(Building on Advanced LOFAR Technology for Innovation, Collaboration, and Sustainability) is project which aims to raise the expertise at the Ventspils International Radio Astronomy center (VIRAC) in the field of LOFAR technology, data reduction and maintenance. In partnership with the Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy (ASTRON) and the University of Manchester (UMAN) and funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme VIRAC staff increased knowledge and practical experience with LOFAR-technology related fields of science.
The knowledge gained during the project,
enables VIRAC to establish and run the potential Latvian LOFAR stations. The project activities were concentrated on enhancing the skills and knowledge of VIRAC staff with participation in curriculum development and training in two main subjects – instrumentation and data analysis organized by experts from ASTRON and UMAN.
The conference is organized to share
experience that VIRAC gained from ASTRON and UMAN within BALTICS activities. Cross dissemination of knowledge and experience is expected by attendance of EU radio astronomy community which is expected to result in extending strategic networking partnerships with European research organizations . Conference language – english.
